Hundred Acre Woods is owned by the City of Portland and held in Conservation Easement by PILP. It consists of approximately 94 acres and includes an area north of Brackett Street, south of Brackett Street to a large, contiguous conserved area with Battery Steele and the Parker Preserve. Also included in the Hundred Acre woods parcel is part of the back shore extending for more than a mile and a half along the eastern side of Peaks Island.
· This parcel of land is comprised of diverse marshlands and swamps, hardwoods and early successional forest.
· Beaver and muskrat arrived on the Island circa 2003 and are found here. The beaver dam and impoundment activities impact this site though the creation of several ponds.
· It is a wildlife habitat for a variety of species including deer, woodpeckers, raccoon.
