Located on Seashore Avenue near Reed Street in the northeast area of Peaks Island, Skillings Woods/Echo Pond parcels were gifted to the Oceanside Conservation Trust by Robert and Sarah Skillings in October 2001. The properties were then transferred to PILP by Oceanside Conservation Trust in May 2002 in the form of a conservation easement. Existing groups that use this property include walkers and hikers along with their dogs. Visitors can park along Seashore Avenue or at the Ice Pond property, but there is no designated parking area for Echo Pond and Skillings Woods.
· A wetland located within the Echo Pond and Skillings Woods parcels. This wetland is referred to as Echo Pond but only retains water seasonally and is mapped as a significant vernal pool by Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.
· Red spruce is the dominant tree species with Paper Birch, American Beech, Red Oak, and Red Maple also present.
· The parcel is an important wildlife habitat for a variety of species including white tailed deer woodpeckers, raccoons among others.
· Echo Pond is a favorite of Peepers in the Spring.
